Central Bedfordshire Council is the unitary authority for the district of Central Bedfordshire in the county of Bedfordshire, England.

The area covers more than 276 square miles and has a population of approximately 280,000, of which the largest communities within the borough are Ampthill, Biggleswade, Dunstable, Flitwick, Houghton Regis, Leighton Buzzard, Sandy and Shefford.

As a local authority Central Bedfordshire Council have an obligation to ensure that every penny is spent prudently, following all necessary EU & UK regulations.

Scope of Works

To provide maximum flexibility for the framework to deliver capital projects over a four period, the existing frameworks are to be replaced enabling prompt delivery on a flexible basis with adaptability in contract style and format. In addition to the Contractors undertaking traditional construction and refurbishment work the framework will be utilised to deliver:
• Demolition
• Roofing works
• Major redecoration programmes
• Door & window installations
• Other specialist trade construction works

This procurement exercise is to create a framework for Contractors who have the capability and resources to undertake work on a traditional and design & build basis under a range of contract types. Best value service delivery is vital as is a commitment to sustainability.

If you are not already a Constructionline member Central Bedfordshire Council will require you to become a member by the Framework Commencement Date and for the duration of the Framework Agreement to allow for ease of Framework Management.

Lot 1 covers the construction value range of projects between £0 to £750,000 and it is envisaged that the types of work likely in this area may be a mix of refurbishments, remodelling extensions and demolitions of the existing building stock.

Lot 2 covers the construction project values between £750,000 to £2.0m and is therefore likely to include larger and/or more complex projects including refurbishments, remodelling extensions, demolitions and minor new builds.

Lot 3 covers the construction project values between £2.0m to £8.0m and is therefore likely to include a mix of major projects for refurbishments, remodelling and new builds.

Lot 4 covers the construction project values between £8.0m to £15m and is therefore likely to include a mix of major projects for refurbishments, remodelling and new builds.

Lot 5 covers the construction value of project in excess of £15m with no upper limit and is therefore likely to include a mix of major projects for refurbishments, remodelling and new builds.

Lot 6 covers the construction of modular and temporary classroom buildings.

Contractors are only eligible to tender for two adjacent Lots, any deviation from this will result in a non-compliant tender and ejection from the process.
