Prestigious Double for UK Bid Specialist
Scotland’s largest bid and tender specialists, AM Bid (active across the UK and Ireland), is celebrating a prestigious double for managing director David Gray.
The Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) UK has recognised David as one of the profession’s top leaders with the 2020 APMP UK Outstanding Leadership Award.
He has also gained global recognition with his election to APMP’s International Board of Directors for 2021-2022.
Buckinghamshire-based APMP UK is the largest APMP Chapter in the world, with over 2,500 members and their award “recognises the ability of an individual to influence, motivate and guide a group of people to achieve set goals”.
AM Bid’s founder and Business Development Director Andrew Morrison was a shortlisted finalist for the Bid Excellence Award, while the AM Bid team was also shortlisted for the Contribution to the Profession Award.
David said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to win the Outstanding Leadership Award. To be recognised by your peer group is the ultimate accolade, so I’m extremely proud to achieve that, especially in the field of leadership.
“I’m also very proud of the whole AM Bid team, for being shortlisted finalists in three extremely strong categories. Credit goes to our high-performance team for their commitment and contributions during what has been a challenging year.
“You can’t be an outstanding leader without an outstanding team following you and I’m privileged to lead such a fantastic team of professionals.”
David, based near Edinburgh, is thought to be the first Scot elected to the International Board of APMP, the bid world’s professional membership association, which is headquartered in the USA and has over 10,000 members worldwide.
When he takes up the post in January, he will join some of the world’s leading bidding and proposal professionals for an initial two-year tenure and will help develop, maintain and implement the Association’s strategic long-range plan.
“Serving the APMP as an International Board Director is a prestigious and important role, and one I’m extremely proud of” said David.
“I’m passionate about building on the international work I’ve done both at AM Bid and with APMP, and I’m really excited about working with a dynamic Board to lead the development of the Association’s international strategy and vision.
“It’s an honour to be elected by an international board of my professional peers and I’m thankful to those across the globe who encouraged and supported my nomination for the role. I can’t wait to get started!”
Incoming APMP Chair Krystn Macomber said: “This year was challenging for all of us, but our board stepped up in meaningful ways to continue to move our association forward and execute on our strategic plan. With the addition of our new directors, we will have access to a breadth of experience and perspectives that will keep us strong and striving for success during these unique times. I am excited for what’s to come in 2021.”
David joined AM Bid in 2016 and was appointed managing director in October 2019.
